In this unit students build on the literary content acquired in units RS 134 and RS 144.  In the unit greater attention is focused on the literary use of language in literature.  The students are introduced places to a variety of literary genres drawing from outstanding novelists, dramatists and poets in the Western literary tradition.  They learn to examine the different forms or genre of the literary text according to the criteria normally used to distinguish between the various literary genres to develop a greater appreciation of language as a tool. Besides exploring the literary use of language, students are also led to explore, analyze and reflect on how through literature complex social issues that confront people in their lives. At the same time, it is hoped that the further use of the literary language will develop a love and appreciation of literature and the value it has as a tool for human and cultural advancement.

RS416 Supervised Research Project
This course allows guest users to enter  

This unit focuses on the preparation of an individual research proposal. Students are introduced to social research and they learn about different approaches used in such research. They develop skills required for the writing of a feasible proposal and they develop research instruments according to the approach they will choose for their major project. They have practical lessons in developing skills such as the interview and observation. The proposal will lead to the major research project which will be carried out in semester 2.
