HE309 Medicine 2

This Unit deals with Adult Medicine. Topics taught are mainly tropical,life style ,and non infectious/infectious diseases. There are also other medical problems that are also introduced to the students.They are psychiatric and common eye problems a HEO can be able to diagnose and treat.

Students spend six weeks in the hospital doing rotations and reinforce what they have learnt in theory.Students are introduced to performing medical procedures,clerking of patients they look after,taking part in ward rounds , doing presentation of patients to the Physician,Registrar and Lecturer concerned.

other activities done are taking On Calls and doing activites that are required by the Physician and Lecturer

Usually, in the afternoons they come to the main campus for tutorials, lectures and clinical presetations.

HE310 Obstetrics and gynaecology

This unit covers human sexual and reproductive health.It also encompasses on family planning as the basis of reduced maternal and infant mortality rates.This is a practical component where reinforcement of theory on various areas of reproductive health as well as engagement in practical scenarios in diagnosing and managing  problems in women with disorders of the reproductive system and well as focussing on improving maternal health .

Year 3 HE students are exposed to the practicals in Paediatrics Ward of  Modilon Hospital working with the Paediatrics Team headed by the Paediatrician or Consultant. Students learn to diagnose, manage and provide rehabilative measures to sick and hospitalised children.
HE307 Accidents & Emergency II

Accidents and Emergency Medicine is the branch of medicine that calls for expertise in all areas of Medicine. This unit will enable the student to be familiar with emergency procedures and the application of those procedures to save lives. This unit is facilitated by Dr. Clement Manineng (DWU) and Dr. Vincent Atua (Modillon Gen Hosp).
