ED591Curriculum Development in Higher Education enables participants to plan and prepare teaching programs and learning materials to support curriculum implementation. Participants will be able to apply skills to a subject, learning level and teaching context of their choice. In the process they will demonstrate an understanding of the influence of psychology, philosophy and sociology on various curriculum development processes and models. Participants will develop the knowledge and skills to enable them to lead colleagues in further curriculum development and planning.
ED592 Facilitating Learning in Higher Education
This course allows guest users to enter  
ED592Facilitating Learning in Higher Education enables participants to develop competency in the use of a range of teaching skills and methods for targeted learning outcomes that are appropriate for use in PNG higher educational contexts. Participants will demonstrate application of their learning through teaching practice activities. The emphasis of this unit will be that of choosing teaching and learning strategies most appropriate to the learning objectives, providing variety of learning facilitation to address learning style differences, and implementing and facilitating a learning-focused environment. Participants explore Christian ethics, human rights and professionalism as integral elements of a teacher’s code of behaviour.

ED593Managing Higher Education Teaching and Learning Environments equips participants with skills to manage classrooms effectively and be efficient in doing their administrative duties. The unit covers planning and organization of higher education learning environments, communicating clearly and confidently, maintaining learning activity pace and variability, facilitating smooth transitions, using rewards wisely, managing groups effectively, responding to inappropriate behaviour, and maintenance of records such as attendance registers, assessment results and asset registers. Motivation to learn, how to assist the growth of intrinsic motivation, and developing life-long learning as an institutional culture as well as a personal attribute will be addressed.
ED594 Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education
This course allows guest users to enter  
ED594Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education equips participants with knowledge and skills to assess the learning of higher education participants and to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning processes. The focus is on designing varied and appropriate types of assessment items that measure student achievement of intended learning outcomes and the use of assessment data in planning future actions. Understanding of diagnostic, formative and summative evaluation is developed. The nature of assessment and evaluation, modes of reporting outcomes and learning achievements, and focusing upon learning rather than testing will be themes of the unit. The ways in which electronic resources can assist formative assessment, record keeping and summative reporting will be addressed.
